Successful ‘Sustainable Food’ training for employees of schauinsland-reisen's R2 hotels on Fuerteventura and Mallorca

Hotel management and staff at three R2 hotels on Fuerteventura and one R2 hotel on Mallorca received training on the topic of sustainable food at the end of April and beginning of June.

During the training, hotel managers and employees from the F&B, kitchen and purchasing departments of the hotels learned everything they needed to know about sustainable food at workshops held at the R2 Rio Calma and R2 Bahia Cala Ratjada.

The sustainable food training developed in the Futouris industry project was adapted in advance to the Canary Islands and Mallorca context and local characteristics and held by a regional trainer in the local language.

During the one-day training sessions, the 29 interested participants received valuable information and tips on how to make purchasing processes more sustainable and offer more local and sustainable products and food in the buffet. Trainer José also provided essential information on the topics of guest communication and reducing food waste in the business.

The employee training courses are designed to raise awareness of sustainability in hotel catering among the responsible F&B staff.
