Futouris members highly motivated to start the industry project "Climate-conscious travel"

Our new industry project "Climate-conscious travel" was launched at the beginning of 2022. The aim is to develop a uniform standard for calculating CO2 emissions from the individual components of the (tourism) value chain and to make climate footprints visible at the point of sale. The aim is to create transparency for product managers, sales and travelers and to increase the range and sale of climate-friendly travel in the long term

Working together for climate-conscious travel
In May, Futouris members met at new member AERTiCKET in Berlin to further advance the joint industry project "Climate-conscious travel".
Project manager Harald Zeiss first gave a brief introduction to the current status: some providers are already reporting the CO2 emissions of (selected) trips. Particularly in the area of "flight", the reported CO2 emissions differ considerably in some cases, depending on which calculation method is used. In addition, the scientifically proven non-CO2 effects are missing.
The participants then discussed initial ideas for providing the data for integration into the tour operators' booking systems.
In the workshops on the various workstreams, such as hotels or IT integration, initial concrete ideas for implementation were discussed and further developed.
