Futouris, together with the TUI Care Foundation and the Sustainable Food Destination Organization®, is supporting farmers on Crete and Rhodes in converting to regenerative agricultural practices and building sustainable food supply chains. In cooperation with the TUI Care Foundation and the local partner Sustainable Food Destination Organization®, Futouris supports farmers on the Greek islands of Crete and Rhodes in converting to regenerative agricultural practices and in building and establishing sustainable food supply chains for tourists and the local population. The aim of this joint project "TUI Field to Fork Greece" is to intensively train a total of 500 farmers in regenerative agricultural practices.
First training sessions on regenerative agriculture
The first training sessions were held in the regions of Chania, Lassithi and Heraklion in the fall of 2023. A total of 40 farmers delved deep into the concept of regenerative agriculture and learned interesting facts about topics such as soil health,
The topics of the training courses are chosen to suit the season. To coincide with the pruning season, for example, the training courses provide information on the correct pruning of plants and shrubs, which helps to vitalize the plants and extend their lifespan. At the same time, the fertility of the soil can be improved and yields increased.
