Project objectives

  2. Developing concrete measures to promote diversity in tourism.

  3. Supporting HR managers in implementing diversity-friendly structures.

Diversity in companies - an important topic

Diversity in companies means specifically promoting and utilizing the diversity of employees - both in terms of personal characteristics such as gender, age, origin, disability or sexual orientation as well as individual skills and experience. The aim is to create an inclusive working environment in which all employees feel valued and included. This promotes innovation, improves decision-making and increases the company's competitiveness.

Diversity in companies - an important topic

Diversity in companies is much more than a short-term trend - it is a key success factor for sustainable growth and long-term competitiveness.

By consciously promoting diversity, companies can strengthen their innovative power, improve their decision-making and create a working culture that has a positive impact on employee satisfaction and loyalty.

Diversity plays a key role in the globally networked tourism industry in particular. As a service sector that is strongly characterized by interpersonal interactions and relationships, tourism benefits in particular from diverse perspectives and cultural openness.

Furthermore, the tourism industry has particular potential to promote participation and diversity. It creates valuable spaces for intercultural encounters that promote mutual understanding and thus counteract prejudice and exclusion.

Goal: Integrating diversity into the corporate strategy

As part of the project, which is being implemented by a Master's student from the AER cooperation, the status quo of diversity within the AER cooperation is being analyzed and the existing, diversity-friendly corporate mission statement is being reviewed. In addition, an anonymous survey of AER member companies will be used to investigate the extent to which the corporate mission statement is actively implemented.

Based on the results, practical recommendations for action and a catalogue of measures will be developed and shared with the industry in order to promote diversity in the industry and integrate it into the corporate strategy in a targeted manner.

An interactive workshop will support HR managers in the member offices in actively implementing diversity in their day-to-day work.
