Climate protection at the counter

Project objectives

• Raising awareness and consolidating the knowledge of travel agents on the topics of sustainability and climate protection so that they are able to inform customers about more climate-friendly vacation offers and other possible climate protection measures with regard to the planned trip.

• Increased booking of more climate-friendly holidays at the counter.

Everyone is talking about climate protection!

Greta Thunberg and "Fridays for Future", but also the forest fires in Australia have sensitized broad sections of the population to the issue of climate protection when travelling. Customers in travel agencies are also increasingly asking about this when seeking advice or making bookings, but many travel agents are often unable to provide satisfactory answers due to a lack of background knowledge.

This is where the joint project "Climate protection at the counter" by Futouris Reisebüro-AG, the climate experts from atmosfair and the travel agency experts René Morawetz (Dein Reisebüro begeistert) and Saskia Sánchez (The Travelling Mind) comes in: travel agents are trained on climate protection topics such as climate-friendly travel, the selection of sustainable hotels and CO2 compensation options.

By providing better information, they can then meet customers' wishes for more climate-friendly travel offers and, for example, offer to offset the CO2 emissions caused by the trip in climate protection projects run by our partner atmosfair.

Activities carried out

• A total of 6 online webinars on the following topics: Climate-friendly arrival and departure, CO2 compensation, atmosfair climate protection projects, sustainable accommodation, climate-friendly travel on site and climate protection in the travel agency with over 325 participants.

• Recording of the workshops and making them available free of charge on the Futouris YouTube channel.

• Provision of a free fact sheet for travel agency employees summarizing the most important points.
